No decision on banning comic book yet, says deputy home minister

Aziz Jamman says the ministry is waiting for investigations to conclude first.

The ‘Belt & Road Initiative for Win and Winism’ comic book has sparked controversy because of its contents.
KUALA LUMPUR:
Deputy Home Minister Aziz Jamman today said no decision has been made yet on whether to ban the controversial comic book “Belt & Road Initiative for Win and Winism”.

“Let us wait for the conclusion of the investigation first, since DAP has denied involvement,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby today, adding that the ministry was also waiting for a decision by the education ministry.

Meanwhile, he said it was still not appropriate to distribute the comic book in schools because of the “political imagery”.

On Oct 18, the home ministry announced a probe into the distribution of the comic book, saying an initial investigation indicated that the contents were a cause for concern and had exceeded the boundaries of politics.

The education ministry had also issued a statement stressing that it had not approved the distribution of the comic book.

It said it had instructed all schools to not distribute or accept the comic book from any supplier.
