MACC nabs 2 Felda officers for abuse of power

This is in relation to Felda's purchase of a stadium in Jengka, Pahang.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said today that two Felda officers have been arrested for abuse of power in relation to the purchase of a stadium in Jengka, Pahang.

MACC deputy chief commissioner Azam Baki said the officers have been remanded for five days.

They are being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009 which carries a fine of RM10,000 and a maximum jail term of 20 years upon conviction.

“Pahang MACC carried out the arrests,” he said in a press conference at the MACC headquarters here. “The investigation is ongoing and I will provide further details soon.”

MACC chief commissioner Latheefa Koya, who was also present, said the identities of the officers are being withheld to ensure their safety.

“We have to abide by the principle of innocent until proven guilty,” she said.
