Singaporean held over body parts found in Melaka bushes

Police file application for arrest warrant to bring man back from island state.

Police have detained a Singaporean man in connection with the discovery of eight body parts discarded in bushes at the Krubong industrial area near here yesterday.

Melaka police chief Mat Kasim Karim said the suspect, believed to be related to the victim, was detained by authorities in Singapore today.

“An application for the warrant of arrest has been submitted to the Melaka Magistrate’s Court and efforts are being made to bring the suspect to Malaysia. Further investigations will be conducted after the remand order for the suspect is obtained,” he said in a statement today.

Mat Kasim said based on police information, the victim was believed to have been killed in a double-storey terrace house at Taman Merdeka, which belonged to the suspect.

He said police found bloodstains in the ground floor bedroom of the house.

Yesterday, it was reported that police found at least eight body parts in bushes near the Kampung Ladang main road close to the Krubong industrial district.
