This was after the Umno man replied to a show cause letter over a police report against trial witness Amhari Efendi Nazaruddin.

The prosecution in the 1MDB trial is not satisfied with the explanation by Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam, who has been accused of threatening Najib Razak’s former special officer Amhari Efendi Nazaruddin.

Sources said an application for leave to commence contempt proceedings against Lokman would be filed in the High Court next week.

“He has replied to our show cause letter but it is not satisfactory,” a source told FMT.

Lokman in a police report against Amhari had urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate and prosecute the witness for receiving money from fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho.

He also attacked MACC chief commissioner Latheefa Koya for inaction, and uploaded a video repeating the allegation made in the report.

Lokman was given seven days to respond to a show cause letter issued by deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Mustafa Kunyalam.

Najib is facing 25 charges of money laundering and abuse of power over alleged 1MDB funds.

He is accused of abusing his position to obtain RM2.28 billion in bribes in February 2011 and December 2014.

The trial entered its 20th day today.
