
“I have to correct this because they keep on saying Chinese buyers,” she said in a press conference after launching the Malaysia Smart City Framework here.
“It’s not true. We’re talking about all international buyers who are riding on the Malaysia My Second Home programme.”
She added that the secretary-generals of the tourism, home and housing and local government ministries would be meeting to discuss the feasibility of the programme.
“This is still at the beginning and discussion stage,” she said. “We will leave it to them and see what the recommendation is.”
Zuraida recently came under fire over her plans for a “home ownership campaign” to deal with RM100 billion worth of unsold high-end properties, with a PKR vice-chief even calling for her resignation.
She has defended herself, following claims that she is neglecting the welfare of citizens, by emphasising that only houses costing RM1 million and above will be sold to foreigners.
