PETALING JAYA: The home ministry has lifted the ban on a book written by former federal minister Zaid Ibrahim.
“Assalamualaikum (Peace Be Upon You): Observation on the Islamisation of Malaysia” was published in 2015 but was banned in December 2017 under the Printing, Presses and Publication (Control of Undesirable Publications) Order.
Zaid subsequently filed a judicial review to quash the ban, saying it was a breach of his constitutional rights of freedom of speech.
A home ministry gazette issued yesterday said its minister Muhyiddin Yassin has lifted the ban on the book.
“My book Islamisation in Malaysia no longer banned. What a difference a good Home Affairs Minister can do,” Zaid said in a tweet.
