KUALA LUMPUR:
Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador says his men still want to take a statement from PKR Perak chief and Anwar Ibrahim’s political secretary, Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, over a brawl at a sports complex in Ampang.

This is despite the complainant in the case having withdrawn his police report against Farhash.

“We are still looking for him to get a statement even though the report has been withdrawn,” Hamid said.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief Huzir Mohamed said police will record a statement from the complainant over his decision to retract the report.

However, he declined to comment when asked if the complainant had been threatened.

Asked if police had gone through immigration records in their search for Farhash, he said: “We tried to trace him but the results were futile.”

The fight involving about a dozen men took place at the Arena All Stars Sports Complex at Taman Dagang Permai, Ampang, on Aug 31.

Following the brawl, police arrested five men, aged between 22 and 38, including the complainant, for questioning.

Farhash denied involvement in the incident and said he was willing to give his full cooperation to the police, if needed.
