Carcosa, Seri Negara not for sale, says govt

The tourism ministry says they are being being conserved as national heritage sites.

The tourism ministry has been given the green light to redevelop Carcosa and Seri Negara as tourist attractions.
KUALA LUMPUR:
The Carcosa and Seri Negara are not for sale as they are protected heritage buildings, tourism, arts and culture ministry secretary-general Isham Ishak said today.

He said the buildings are being preserved and conserved as national heritage sites under the National Heritage Act 2005.

The land and buildings cannot be sold but the government is open to providing concessions for the operation of the buildings, he told reporters on the sidelines of the World Tourism Conference 2019 here.

The ministry had announced previously that it has been given the green light to redevelop Carcosa and Seri Negara as tourist attractions.

Isham said an evaluation is being carried on the mansions, including a forensic study on their structural safety.
