PETALING JAYA:
Police have arrested 28 people said to be involved in gang-related violence during a Hindu chariot procession in Kuala Selangor.

Selangor Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief Fadzil Ahmad said police are still on the hunt for more suspects who were involved in the incident at the Kaliamma Bestari Jaya Temple in Sungai Darah

He said at least two people including a policeman who attempted to stop the fight were injured.

“One member of the public had part of his left palm severed and is undergoing treatment at the Sungai Buloh Hospital,” he said.

Police said five “sharp weapons” were seized.

It is believed that an argument erupted between two groups who were unhappy over the setting-up of a tent, which soon led to a fight with weapons.

The detainees will be brought to the Kuala Selangor Magistrate’s Court for remand.
