Support ‘Love MY Palm Oil’ drive, Kok urges local communities

The primary industries minister say community associations can play a role to garner more support for the campaign.

Prime Industries Minister Teresa Kok hopes the education ministry can include the nutritional benefits of palm oil in the school syllabus.
KUALA LUMPUR:
The government hopes to extend the “Love MY Palm Oil” campaign to local communities throughout the country.

Primary Industries Minister Teresa Kok said community associations can play a role to garner more support from the public for the campaign.

She cited as an example the Taman Desa Residents Association in Seputeh, which is active in creating awareness on the nutritional values and usefulness of palm oil and its derivative products.

“It is also educational in nature,” the Seputeh MP told reporters after announcing the Merdeka Fun Run 2019 for Sayangi Sawitku today.

Kok said she had also written to Education Minister Maszlee Malik last month to include the nutritional benefits of palm oil in the school syllabus.

The Merdeka Fun Run, to be held on Aug 24, will include a palm oil exhibition by the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC).
