Dewan Rakyat ‘yes’ to adding 13 state seats for Sabah

KUALA LUMPUR:
The Dewan Rakyat has approved a motion to add 13 more state seats in Sabah, with 158 MPs voting in favour.

The motion was tabled today by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and was debated by 21 MPs.

In 2016, Sabah assemblymen passed an amendment to Article 14(2) of the state constitution to add 13 state seats, based on an redelineation exercise by the Election Commission.

The new seats are Bengkoka, Bandau, Pintasan, Pantai Dalit, Darau, Tanjung Keramat, Limbahau, Tulid, Telupid, Sungai Manila, Lamag, Segama and Kukusan.
