PETALING JAYA: Dr Mahathir Mohamad today got a birthday wish from an unlikely well-wisher, Najib Razak.
In a brief Facebook post, the former prime minister wrote: “Happy Birthday Tun Mahathir. May God bless you with the best of health.”
Mahathir, the world’s oldest prime minister, turns 94 today.
Mahathir and Najib fell out in 2015 over the 1MDB scandal, culminating in the elderly statesman quitting Umno the following year.
Mahathir later formed PPBM and entered into an alliance with PKR, DAP and Amanah under Pakatan Harapan, which ended Najib’s nine-year premiership after winning the 2018 elections.
In an exclusive interview last February, Najib told FMT that his fight with Mahathir was not personal.
“Our relationship goes back a long way and I am grateful to him for making me deputy prime minister and supporting me when I was PM,” he had said.
