Tiang told FMT he believed Kuching DAP Youth’s call for the suspension of SUPP’s registration as a political organisation was a move to get rid of a rival in the election.
He described its complaint to the registrar of societies as a “petty report”.
Last Wednesday, Kuching DAP Youth committee member Sim Kiat Leng told reporters the party was seeking SUPP’s suspension because it is one of the defendants in civil forfeiture suits that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has filed in a bid to recover funds reportedly related to 1MDB.
Sim said he believed there were grounds for SUPP’s eventual deregistration.
Tiang said it was unbecoming of DAP to deliver its judgement against SUPP when the matter had yet to be decided in a court of law.

“It has no respect for the judiciary and the attorney-general’s chambers,” he added.
He alleged that Sarawak DAP had lost its focus as a party that is supposed to serve the people of the state.
“These are more important matters to be dealt with rather than lodging a petty report against SUPP,” he said, noting that Sarawak DAP promised, during the campaign for last year’s general election, that Pakatan Harapan would give back to Sarawak 50% of the annual revenue collected from the state.
In the campaign, Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen also said Sarawak’s oil and gas royalties would be increased to 20%.
Tiang said DAP should be fighting in Putrajaya to get those promises fulfilled.
“Even if it manages to get SUPP deregistered, it will still have to answer to the people,” he added.
