In a statement, the department’s director-general Khairul Dzaimee Daud said Lindemann was arrested along with two other Americans after a tip-off at 9.30pm on Friday. She was released at 7pm the following day.

He also said the trio were fined RM300 each.

Two Malaysians, who were also nabbed, were released on police bail at 4pm.

“The department would like to stress that the allegation that she was detained for five days is not true and inaccurate.

“The department carries out its duties and takes action in accordance with the law,” he said.

Lindemann, who is best known for the song “Pretty Girl”, had told her 3.7 million followers on Instagram that she was detained and arrested mid-way through her performance and “spent the next five days confined in a living hell”.

Kuala Lumpur immigration chief Hamidi Adam had earlier told AFP that Lindemann was arrested for failing to have the correct permit for foreign artistes to perform in Malaysia.
