“The land swap issue is only one of them. There are other issues, which are actually good for me. They will clear my name, hopefully, forever,” Hishammuddin said when asked how confident he was in regards to the investigations
On June 23, MACC questioned Hishammuddin for seven hours over the land swap deals.
The Sembrong MP was reported to have said after the questioning that he was prepared to be charged in court if any evidence of wrongdoing was found.
Hishammuddin was the second former Barisan Nasional minister to be called up by the MACC to assist in investigations after former deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was hauled up two weeks ago.
He added that he was confident the MACC would investigate the matter in a professional manner.
On Zahid returning as party president
Hishammuddin, a former Umno vice-president, said Zahid had the right to return as party president. He hoped Zahid’s return would not affect the party’s strength.
At a Hari Raya open house in Perak last night, Zahid announced his decision to return as party president after being on garden leave for six months.
He said he came to the decision because he could not stand watching the Pakatan Harapan government continue to lie and insult the people.
