PARIT BUNTAR:
A fisherman tendered an open apology to all Muslims today for his indiscretion in conducting a ritual at a “Dato Kong” altar dressed like a Muslim.

Lim Lip Kok , 43, said he deeply regretted his action which had offended Muslims and Malays and promised not to repeat his action.

‘’I apologise, I apologise, I apologise. My action was not deliberate and I had no intention to offend the feelings of the Malays,’’ Lim told reporters at the Tanjung Piandang Village Development and Security Committee hall here.

His apology was made in Mandarin and translated by a local official.

On June 7, a video recording of a man wearing a sarong and white skull cap worshipping at a “Dato Kong” altar went viral.

Police remanded a suspect, who was later released on bail.

Tanjung Piandang mosque religious bureau chairman Mohd Yusop Budin said the mosque committee had decided to accept the apology to avoid a rift.
