He also said there is a need to implement an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system for the five military hospitals in the country to improve the delivery of health services.
Speaking to reporters during a visit to Hospital Angkatan Tentera Tuanku Mizan in Wangsa Maju here today, he said the military hospital at Terendak Camp and the military training academy, both in Melaka, will be upgraded.
Mohamad, better known as Mat Sabu, said the EMR system would be used to share patient information among the five military hospitals, including the one in Kota Kinabalu.
“We feel it is necessary to establish the system as soon as possible since the manual management of patient records delays the treatment process,” he said, adding that the system would cost about RM35 million.
Mohamad also said more polyclinics would be built on military bases in line with the programme to ensure the continued good health of members of the armed forces.
