PUTRAJAYA: The political secretary to Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Salahuddin Ayub has been remanded for four days over allegations that he received a bribe in the form of a luxury watch.
Magistrate Ahmad Asyraf Mohamed Kamal allowed the remand application sought by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for investigations under Section 16 of the MACC Act.
The 47-year-old man arrived at the Magistrate’s Court here at 9.13am, dressed in MACC lock-up attire.
He was arrested yesterday evening at the MACC headquarters where he had gone to give his statement.
Salahuddin, who confirmed the arrest, said he would not intervene in MACC’s probe.
The man is believed to have accepted a RM28,000 watch as an inducement to enable a project developer to be awarded projects under the minister’s purview.
