No trace of blood, DNA, clothing fibre on fire truck and van, Adib inquest told

Chemistry Department official says he did not find any trace of human blood, clothing fibre, or hair on both the fire truck and van that were deployed to the Seafield temple riot last year.

SHAH ALAM:
A forensic analyst told the Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim inquest that he did not find any “biological trace” when he conducted an examination on the fire truck and medical van that were deployed to the Seafield temple area on Nov 27.

Mohamad Firdhaus Ramli from the Chemistry Department said he did not find any trace of clothing fibre, blood or hair on the surfaces of the fire rescue tender (FRT) truck nor the emergency medical rescue service (EMRS) van.

“I was told to conduct examinations on outside the truck and van based on a report by the Subang Jaya police.

“There was no trace of DNA outside the fire truck and medical van,” he said, in response to conducting officer Faten Hadni Khairuddin on whether there was any biological trace on the vehicles that were attacked during the riot.

Firdhaus however did not rule out the possibility that biology traces might have disappeared due to weather and other environment reasons.

“I was told to conduct checks on the van and truck on Dec 5 last year.

“I found that the fire truck was damaged on its left side on the back and its windscreen was broken while the van was damaged on its front,” he said.

The inquest was called by the government amid conflicting claims on the cause of Adib’s death.

Adib was part of a response team sent from the Subang Jaya fire and rescue station on Nov 27 to the temple area in answer to a call that cars had been set on fire. He died at IJN on Dec 17.

The inquest continues on Thursday before Coroner Rofiah Mohamad.
