PETALING JAYA: Putrajaya today announced the appointment of Nik Azman Nik Abdul Majid as the new auditor-general, replacing Madinah Mohamad whose contract ended last month.
Chief Secretary to the Government Ismail Bakar said the appointment of Nik Azman was based on Article 105 of the Federal Constitution, which states that the auditor-general shall be appointed by the Agong on the advice of the prime minister as well as the Conference of Rulers.
Nik Azman has a degree in Economics from Universiti Malaya and obtained a Masters in the same field from the University of Nebraska.
Until recently, he was the secretary-general of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
He had also held posts in the World Bank, the finance ministry and the Prime Minister’s Department.
