MACC raids home of Batu Caves temple official

The raid is believed to be linked to the development of land belonging to the Sri Mahamariamman Devasthanam temple.

PETALING JAYA: A team from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has raided the home of a top office holder of the committee in charge of administering the Hindu temple in Batu Caves.

It is understood that the raid had to do with allegations linked to the development of a parcel of land in Kuala Lumpur that belonged to the Sri Mahamariamman Devasthanam temple.

Last year, a Hindu association questioned the plan, saying a trustee of the temple was also involved in the project. The claim was denied by R Nadarajah, the temple committee chairman.

A source told FMT that anti-graft officers had scoured the temple office in Batu Caves as well as the home of the senior office holder.

They also checked for documents in his bedroom, as well as two luxury vehicles.
