Rafizi’s lawyer Mat Yunus Shariff told magistrate Umzarul An-Nur Umar that the Attorney-General’s Chambers had accepted a representation from his client to drop the case.
The matter was confirmed by deputy public prosecutor Nadia Zulkefli.
Rafizi, the former Pandan MP, was accused of posting an article titled “Financial Analysis of Tabung Haji 2009-2015” on his Facebook page on Feb 9, 2016.
The post allegedly contained accusations against the Tabung Haji board which could tarnish the fund’s name.
Rafizi was charged with committing the offence under Section 500 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to two years, a fine or both upon conviction.
He was ordered to enter his defence last September, which was scheduled to begin today.
