
With the facility, to be completed this year, the women will be able to attend to their work while their children are taken care of by caregivers.
Speaking at a press conference today, Yeoh noted that women MPs, parliament employees and journalists sometimes finish work only at 10pm.
She said the parliament authorities were looking for a suitable location for the facility after approval was granted by the speaker, Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof.
Ariff, who was present at the press conference, said the facility may be set up at a location outside of parliament.
In November last year, the government approved an allocation of RM10 million to build childcare facilities at government agencies.
Yeoh said about 500 government agencies have yet to have childcare facilities.
