PETALING JAYA:
Police have arrested controversial blogger Papagomo following an incident in which he is alleged to have assaulted Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

According to Utusan Malaysia, the Umno Youth executive council member, whose real name is Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, was arrested at his house in Danau Kota, Setapak at 3pm today.

It is unsure if he will be released after having his statement taken.

Yesterday, Syed Saddiq lodged a police report claiming that he was assaulted and intimidated by Papagomo and other opposition supporters during the nomination for the Semenyih by-election in Kajang.

Papagomo denied assaulting the Muar MP and had threatened to sue the minister for defamation.

Earlier today, Selangor police chief Noor Azam Jamaludin said they would summon the blogger to have his statement taken.

Noor Azam also said police would call other individuals featured in a 22-second video clip showing the minister being surrounded and chased while he was walking to his car after the nominations for the Semenyih by-election.

The video clip has since gone viral.
