SIBU:
Sarawak police are investigating a police report by a former MP denying his involvement in a syndicate which sent a group of Malaysian workers to Cambodia.

Sibu police chief Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the matter has been referred to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.

He said Sng Chee Hua, the former Julau MP, had lodged the report this morning to refute his involvement in the illegal activity.

He denied being involved in the syndicate which cheated 47 Malaysians, including 40 from Sarawak, by offering high-paying jobs in Cambodia, which resulted in the victims being detained for two months, before their release on Feb 15.

Sng is the father of current Julau MP Larry Sng Wei Shien.

The senior Sng also confirmed that no report had been lodged against him by any individual over the allegation.
