Mazlan replaces Saiful Azly Kamaruddin, who was the acting CCID director.
Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun said Mazlan will still head the Selangor police contingent and carry out his duties as Selangor police chief until a replacement has been found.
“Based on his experience as Perak CCID chief in 2005, I am sure he is ready to lead the department,” he said after attending the handing over of duties for senior police officers and presentation of the National Warriors service awards at the Police Training Centre here today.
Fuzi also announced the appointment of Kedah police chief Abd Rahim Jaafar as Bukit Aman management director with immediate effect.
Rahim, who replaces acting director Abd Jalil Hassan, will also continue to carry out his duties as Kedah police chief until a replacement is found.
In another development, Fuzi said police will see if they would need to probe Pakatan Harapan Cameron Highlands by-election candidate M Manogaran for wearing a shirt with the coalition’s logo at a polling station.
This follows a police report lodged by the Election Commission (EC).
“We will see if this case falls under our jurisdiction or that of the EC or the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC),” he said.
On the test results of a urine sample from the son of Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu, Fuzi said the matter was being handled by the Kuala Lumpur Narcotics CID.
“I was told the report is still not back yet from the Chemistry Department and I want the test results to be expedited,” he said.
