KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested the former senior product manager of a company to assist with investigations into alleged soliciting of bribes estimated at over RM2 million.
According to an MACC source, the 40-year-old man was detained at 4.35pm at the Putrajaya MACC headquarters where he had gone to record his statement.
Initial investigations revealed that the suspect received bribes worth more than RM2 million from a company, among others, for the approval of credit notes issued to the firm.
The source said a remand order would be filed at the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court. The case is being investigated under Section 17 (a) of the MACC Act 2009.
When contacted, MACC investigation director Simi Abdul Ghani confirmed the arrest but did not elaborate on the case.
