“We know it is very hard for us to win this by-election, so I urge the Chinese and Indian outstation voters to come back.
“Each vote counts,” he told reporters during a walkabout in Kampung Raja here today. “For the Chinese, I know it’s inconvenient because they may have to make two trips back within 10 days, to vote and for Chinese New Year.
“But for the interest of the country, for our children and the future generation, even if it’s expensive I hope they will come back.”

Tanah Rata assemblyman Chiong Yoke Kong said Pakatan Harapan (PH) needed a minimum voter turnout of 65% in order to win the Cameron Highlands by-election.
“This is our call to the outstation voters,” he said. “In the last few by-elections, voter turnout never exceeded 65%, maybe because they felt that we didn’t need them to win.
“But this time, it’s different. In the 14th general election, we didn’t lose by a big majority.”
PH reportedly needs to woo about 3,000 Chinese outstation voters in the upcoming by-election.
