
“I never promised to bring development projects to Cameron Highlands to woo voters.
“That was the norm during the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration, where they would promise the construction of roads and bridges to persuade voters to vote for them,” he said in a press conference here.
He said his actual message during the campaign in Cameron Highlands was that if voters chose PH, the federal government would be able to work hand in hand with the state government to develop the area.
The Cameron Highlands seat was declared vacant after the Election Court nullified the victory of MIC vice-president C Sivaarrajh on grounds that vote-buying had taken place.
Polling is slated for Jan 26, in a four-way contest between PH candidate M Manogaran, BN candidate Ramli Mohd Nor and independent candidates Wong Seng Yee and Sallehudin Ab Talib.
