Don’t stray from 3 principles that helped us win Putrajaya, PKR tells Kit Siang

KULIM:
Pakatan Harapan (PH)component parties should not deviate from the three core principles the coalition had agreed on when it took over Putrajaya in the May 9 polls, Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said.

The PKR secretary-general said the first principle was the commitment to preserve, protect and defend the Federal Constitution, especially on matters concerning Malay rulers, freedom of religion, special rights of the Malays and the national language.

“The second principle is the commitment towards PH’s reform agenda, involving public institutions, enforcement bodies and Parliament.

“The third principle is the commitment towards a coalition based on mutual respect and trust,” he told reporters after presenting school aid to pupils from Sekolah Kebangsaan Terap here today.

Saifuddin was asked to comment on DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang’s statement yesterday that party leaders would not hesitate to quit PH if the objectives of New Malaysia are abandoned.

“The three principles were the basis on which the coalition was formed even before it became a ruling government.

“Political parties are dynamic; they are not static. Having differences of opinion is normal, but these three principles must remain unchanged as they were agreed upon by all parties,” he added.
