With the score level at 2-2 after a fierce comeback by the Malayan Tigers in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, the national team will face a tough match in Vietnam, but they will not be without the “Ultras Malaya”, famed for their zealous support.
Earlier today, some 200 Ultras were filmed fearlessly marching and chanting for their beloved team in the streets of Hanoi, to the delight of those around as well as those back home.
On social media, Mohd Nur Shahreen said “Salute Ultras Malaya. Aummm”, while Rostam Ottang said, “The best. The hair on my hands is standing”.
“Ultras Malaya the best,” said Asyraf Daniel.
Some of the videos of the Ultras have garnered hundreds of thousands of views.
Some social media users, however, said that while it was okay to chant and sing, the fans must be on their best behaviour and not cause any trouble while in Vietnam.
Earlier today, The Star reported national team coach Tan Cheng Hoe paying tribute to the Malaysian fans who have travelled to Vietnam for the match.
“I have to salute them. From day one, they’ve shown how passionate they are towards the flag and the team. I want to give something to the fans and winning the cup would be perfect,” he was quoted as saying.
Malaysia last lifted the Suzuki Cup in 2010, beating Indonesia 4-2 on aggregate.
