In 2017, the Canadian portal said Malaysian women ranked seventh among women who accessed Pornhub through mobile devices. According to the report, released on March 7 that year, 84% of Malaysian women and 66% of men browsed Pornhub using a mobile device.
However, female Malaysian visitors to Pornhub are now in the 10% to 29% percentile of female traffic to Pornhub, with 29% being the worldwide average.
In fact, Malaysia was missing in this year’s review report by Pornhub Insights, the website’s research and analysis arm, from not only the top 10 countries with the highest traffic on Pornhub but the top 20 as well.
The most viewed category of porn in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Brunei is Asian porn, data shows.
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) banned Pornhub from as early as 2014.
Malaysian police have also set up a new unit to monitor Malaysians who watch porn online and pinpoint and locate in real time those who surf these websites.
This is seen as an attempt to stop child pornography from being uploaded or accessed, which Malaysia is also known for.
However, MCMC says it does not conduct any surveillance or survey of pornographic websites on its own, especially those offering child pornography.
It only helps the police and other relevant authorities upon request in taking action against pornographic websites, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo.
The US continues to lead this year’s list by a landslide, followed by the UK, India, Japan, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Australia and the Philippines, with Mexico trailing behind.
Other countries on the list are Brazil, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Sweden, Argentina, Russia, and South Africa. Ukraine is the newest member in the top 20 list.
Collectively, all 20 countries make up 80% of daily traffic, Pornhub data shows.
Among Pornhub’s top 20 traffic countries, the Philippines has the highest proportion of female visitors at 38%, followed by 35% of both Brazil’s and South Africa’s traffic.
Countries such as Malaysia which are no longer on the list with the largest proportion of mobile use to access Pornhub by women include Pakistan, Ireland and New Zealand.
Other major data from this year’s Pornhub review report includes a whopping 100 million daily users visiting Pornhub, or 33.5 billion in 2018 so far, an increase of five billion visits from the year before.
This can be likened to the combined populations of Canada, Poland, and Australia.
