Its secretary Masidi Manjun said the Sabah Umno liaison committee would hold a press conference at 1pm tomorrow to explain its political position.
“As of now, it’s just speculation,” he said when contacted here today. “The issue will be clearer after the press conference.”
The four MPs said to be considering leaving Sabah Umno are Beluran MP Ronald Kiandee, Kudat MP Rahim Bakri, Beaufort MP Azizah Mohd Dun and Libaran MP Zakaria Edris.
The Sabah Umno committee is currently holding a meeting with division chiefs.
Sabah Umno vice-chief Ghazalie Ansing meanwhile denied that the state Umno would be dissolved.
He maintained that the party was still strong and would continue to fight for the rights of Sabah’s Bumiputeras.
“It’s normal for leaders to come and go,” he said. “The question of whether Sabah Umno will be dissolved does not arise.
“Sabah Umno Youth envisions a party with new faces and new strength, and it will remain an entity at both the federal and state level.”
