Sabah police commissioner Omar Mammah told the media today that the four men boarded the tugboat about 7.32pm and shot the victim who called for help after the men left.
“The shooting happened at Pegasus Reef near Pulau Tambisan in Lahad Datu. They fled in a four-engine speedboat,” he said today.
He said so far investigations revealed that nothing had been taken from the tugboat.
The police, he said, were also investigating claims that the same men had attacked another boat with several crew members on board, not far from the first incident, and after boarding the first tugboat.
“Police are trying to also ascertain if anyone was harmed or taken hostage from the second boat,” Omar said.
