
He said in a country with people of different races and religions, everyone must be more sensitive about what they say and do so as not to offend others.
“The country is generally peaceful. However, we cannot take it for granted and we cannot be complacent.
“Our country is made up of diverse races. This requires us to be careful about what we say and do so that everyone can enjoy a life which is peaceful and comfortable, with no threats to their safety,” he told Bernama today.
Wan Salim said he was worried about several recent incidents which had been exploited by irresponsible parties to whip up racial tension among the various races.
He advised Malaysians, especially the country’s leaders, to be more responsible and not take any action which could lead to disunity, but to focus on reviving the economy.
