Speaking to reporters here today, Liew, who is deputy chief minister, said: “I wish I could comment but I can’t because my leaders in the political bureau don’t know anything about this… so how to comment on something we don’t know?”

She then went on to say: “I consider it as hearsay. When I know for sure, then I will comment.

“From the general election in May and right after that we have been busy with our work and then we had the party elections that lasted three months.”

It was previously reported that a meeting was held last weekend by PKR division leaders to discuss replacing Liew and that Liew had not been invited for it.

However, PKR’s Sepanggar division chief Dr Roland Chia denied any plan to oust Liew.

He said the meeting was a normal procedure after the party elections.

Asked if she was confident of retaining the post of state chief, Liew said it was the prerogative of party president Anwar Ibrahim.

Asked if she would be all right if someone else was picked, she said, while laughing: “What did I do wrong?”
