Sng booed and jeered at PKR Congress

Members react negatively after Julau MP accepts the letter confirming his position in the party's central leadership council.

Julau MP Larry Sng was unfazed by the crowd’s jeering.
SHAH ALAM:
Julau MP Larry Sng was today booed at PKR’s National Congress after accepting a letter confirming his position in the party’s central leadership council.

Sng, who had spoken out against an alleged membership surge in PKR Julau earlier this year, appeared unfazed as he accepted his letter and stood alongside the 19 other central leadership council members.

Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, the party’s outgoing president, who presented Sng his letter, was seen telling party members to stop booing.

Sng was the sole leader booed after receiving his letter. The crowd was largely supportive of the other office-bearers including the six vice-presidents.

When contacted, Sng, who is now the Julau PKR division chief, brushed aside the incident, saying it was a “very small matter”.

“For me, today is a happy day because Anwar, after waiting for so long, was able to assume the party leadership.

“To me, that is the biggest news there is,” he told FMT, referring to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.

“Those who booed me don’t know me. That’s fine. Let me work extra hard to win them over.”
