Unofficial results showed Rafizi with 624 votes against Azmin’s 621 votes, a result which dealt a huge blow to Rafizi’s hopes of beating Azmin with a big majority as Keningau is considered one of his strongholds in Sabah.
Rafizi’s camp is now banking to get more votes from the Pensiangan re-election tomorrow.
Results for Pensiangan has been withheld after hundreds of voters were unable to choose their candidates because of the short time that was given.
The party election committee decided to hold a second round of voting tomorrow to allow as many members as possible to cast their votes.
Sabah PKR vice-chairman Kenny Chua said no untoward incident took place in Keningau today, except for a minor squabble earlier.
He played down the incident, describing it as a mere misunderstanding.
Official results for the polls is expected to be published on the PKR website later next week.
Azmin led Rafizi by 1,611 votes after two days of voting in Sabah last week and the result in Keningau shaved Azmin’s lead to 1,608 votes as of now.
Other than Pensiangan, party members in Tawau will also hold a re-election tomorrow after the results in the division were disqualified last week.
Tawau is expected to consolidate Azmin’s stand in Sabah as it is considered his main stronghold in the state.
