PETALING JAYA: Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu spent half a million ringgit on his work visits overseas since May, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.
The ministry, in a parliamentary reply, said Mohamad (PH-Kota Raja), had spent RM509,724, between May 9 and Oct 9.
“These visits included meetings to strengthen defence diplomacy,” he said in response to a question by Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (PAS-Kubang Kerian) on how much was spent on the minister’s visits abroad.
Ibrahim had also asked the minister to list the expenditure for purchase of weapons, military equipment and repairs of weapons last year.
To this, Mohamad said as of Sept 30 this year, the ministry had spent RM42.4 million to repair weapons and RM1.409 billion to repair military equipment.
