Businessman fined RM2,000 over petrol kiosk assault

Muhammad Nuralif Shaufik Ahmad Fauzi was given the fine in default of a five-month jail term.

TAPAH: A businessman was fined RM2,000 in default of five months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here today for voluntarily causing hurt to a petrol station attendant.

Magistrate Mohd Harith Mohd Mazlan handed down the fine on Muhammad Nuralif Shaufik Ahmad Fauzi, 25, who pleaded guilty to the charge.

He was charged with causing hurt to Muhammad Ridwan Abdullah, 24, at a Petronas petrol station in Sungkai near here at 12.45pm on Oct 6.

In mitigation, Muhammad Nuralif Shaufi’s lawyer, S Kavitha, said her client, who had shown remorse for his act, was an only child and supported his parents who are not working.

Deputy public prosecutor Fatin Farahiyah Nadzri prosecuted.
