MyAqsa chief executive officer Noorazman Mohd Samsuddin said violation of the resolution by the Zionist regime was an insult to the UN’s authority to maintain world peace and security.
“Malaysia had proposed the activation of the Resolution 2334 on Dec 23, 2016, and received a vote of 14-0.
“It’s very meaningful for MyAqsa, a non-governmental body from Malaysia, to be filing this claim,” he said.
Noorazman said the filing of claims against Israel at the ICC was formalised yesterday, and other efforts would be continued to ensure justice could be upheld for the Palestinians.
He said studies by MyAqsa showed that Israel had violated at least 28 UN Security Council Resolutions, but unfortunately, there had been no clear and strict action taken by any authority.
“The violation of these resolutions has left thousands of Palestinians oppressed, without any defence,” he said.
He said war crimes were clearly committed when Israel sanctioned moves to seize land, demolish houses, destroy farms and villages and illegally capture Palestinians in the West Bank, Palestine, an area which was included in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations Charter at the 4th Geneva Convention and the UN Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 2334.
He said Resolution 2334 states that Israel’s illegal settlements in Palestinian Territories, occupied since 1967, including that of East Jerusalem, constituted a “flagrant violation” of international law and had “no legal validity”.
Noorazman said Israel’s actions were undermining the peace process between the two countries.
“This resolution requires Israel to immediately stop all illegal activities in the Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem and the West Bank,” he said.
Noorazman said Resolution 2334, under Chapter VII of the UN Charter, binds all UN members, including Israel, to refer to Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention — of which Israel is a party to — prohibiting the occupying power from mass transfer of its population into occupied territories and the eviction of any person from the territories concerned.
“There are many concrete pieces of evidence which are well-documented and there are numerous news reports and commission reports from individuals and international human rights organisations.”
He said the details of Israeli war crimes and aggression were also documented and could be clearly seen on social media.
According to him, that should certainly constitute as solid proof of Israeli’s transgressions against the state of Palestine.
“MyAqsa is convinced that the violation of Resolution 2334 will cause chaos and security instability not only in West Asia but also throughout the world,” he said.
