PETALING JAYA:
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has summoned MyPPP’s M Kayveas for questioning in connection with funds allegedly linked to 1MDB, according to the party’s deputy secretary-general Simon Sabapathy.

Sabapathy said he was also contacted by the anti-graft body’s officials this morning, asking if he had any information on any transactions made.

“They said they are investigating the money that apparently was given by Umno to him or the party, and which was suspected to be linked to 1MDB.

“I said I had no information on the transactions involving any money coming into the party from Umno or any source.”

He said the only person who had any knowledge about any transaction or financial documents would be Kayveas and his personal secretary.

Kayveas was sacked from the party previously and Maglin Dennis D’Cruz was announced as the acting president after that. But Kayveas has refuted his sacking.

FMT has contacted Kayveas for comment and is awaiting his reply.

However, The Star quoted Kayveas as refuting claims that he had received funds that may be linked to 1MDB.

He claimed funds amounting to RM36 million that he spoke to MACC officers about were actually collected by the opposite faction vying for power within MyPPP.

“There are two amounts, RM16 million and RM20 million, that they collected in the name of MyPPP after they ‘so-called’ sacked me.

“This money, which they allegedly collected from Barisan Nasional, never came into MyPPP’s accounts.”

Kayveas told the newspaper he had given the name of the six people who collected the cash to MACC officers.
