Kumpulan AmanahRaya’s managing director Adenan Md Yusof was reported by Utusan Malaysia as saying that Nasir was capable of leading AmanahRaya as he was previously one of its board members and was no stranger to the business operations of the group.

“With his vast experience in many industries, we are confident he can bring AmanahRaya to greater heights,” Adenan was reported as saying in a statement.

Nasir had obtained a degree in economics from Universiti Malaya in 1980 and subsequently received a Masters in Science (Finance) from the University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom, in 1988.

He once held the position of CEO of City Securities Sdn Bhd and was later appointed as the managing director of Kumpulan Utusan Melayu (M) Berhad before his retirement in 2014.

Nasir is deputy chairman of Plenitude Berhad and is a director at EA Technique (M) Berhad, a company listed on Bursa Malaysia. He is also director at i-VCAP Management Sdn Bhd and Amanah International Finance Sdn Bhd.
