MACC extends deadline to publish asset list again

The deadline has been pushed from Oct 15 to Nov 1 to enable all MPs and Cabinet members to declare their assets.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has postponed the display of a list of declared assets by Cabinet members and MPs on its portal for the second time.

According to a source, not everyone had declared their assets yet.

“So we are giving them time until the end of the month.

“Hopefully by Nov 1, it can be announced,” the source who spoke on condition of anonymity told FMT.

Last month, the anti-graft agency postponed the display of the list from Oct 1 to 15.

Its chief commissioner Mohd Shukri Abdull said this was to enable all MPs and Cabinet members to submit their asset declarations as not all of them had completed three months of service.

The list will be given to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the MACC before it is published on the website.

For now, the declaration of assets does not involve assemblymen and other state-level leaders.
