KUALA LUMPUR: Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today said he would leave it to the courts to decide on the RM116.7 million seized by the police at an apartment linked to former president Najib Razak in May.
When asked if Umno had concrete evidence that the money belonged to the party, he said:
“I will show the evidence in court when the time comes.”
It was reported yesterday that the government and the police would apply to cancel the suit by Umno demanding the return of the RM116.7 million to the party.
Federal counsel Mohammad Sallehuddin Md Ali said the application was filed as the party had no legal standing to bring the suit.
Umno filed the application to demand the money at the High Court here on Sept 24.
