Its president, Lim Boon Kiak, said the issue had been going on for the last five years due to the Orang Asli objecting to logging activities in Gua Musang.
“The blockades imposed by the Orang Asli community was to prevent loggers from entering their logging areas. This has caused many loggers to suffer losses of up to hundreds of millions of ringgit,” he said in a statement here today.
Lim said despite the many efforts made by the Kelantan Forestry Department to solve the problem, the situation had still not been resolved, with the crisis getting worse over the last two years.
“This logging issue is not only a local issue but also a national one, getting lots of reaction from outside parties.”
He said the association wanted the Kelantan state government to find a solution to the problem in the near future to prevent members of the association from suffering continuous losses.
