
She said these acts would be reviewed holistically and in depth before any decision was made.
“In relation to Act 355 and other relevant laws, we are looking at it in more detail and, God willing, we are committed and ready to amend the act to empower the Shariah Courts as whole,” she said during the oral question-and-answer session at the Dewan Negara today.
She was replying to senator Husain Awang who wanted to know whether the government was willing to amend Act 355 to enhance the status of the Shariah Courts.
Fuziah said other aspects would also be taken into account, including the harmonisation between shariah and civil laws, the competence of shariah judges and prosecutors as well as the infrastructure of the Shariah Courts.
