

He said Amin had submitted his resignation letter dated Sept 1 and given 30 days’ notice.
“We will consider his letter,” he said. “It also depends on whether we can find a replacement for him.
“I have yet to respond to his letter. That is the situation now,” he said in a press conference here today.
He said his officers were looking for a suitable candidate to replace Amin, and that the matter would likely be raised during the Cabinet meeting next week.
“He gave 30 days’ notice, so perhaps next week we can discuss this during the Cabinet meeting.
“The important thing is to find a candidate who can fulfil the role and who has experience,” he added.
However, he did not name any candidates who could replace Amin as mayor.
