PETALING JAYA:
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is seeking an extension of its remand of Hasanah Ab Hamid, as an investigation continues into allegations that the former intelligence chief under the previous government misused funds for the general election.

Her lawyer Shaharudin Ali told FMT that he was informed that Hasanah would appear at the Magistrates Court in Putrajaya tomorrow for a request to keep her longer under MACC’s custody.

Hasanah, who came into limelight over a leaked letter from her to the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) seeking Washington’s support for Najib Razak at the height of the May general election campaign, was arrested last Tuesday.

MACC has since seized cash worth over US$6.3 million from a condominium unit in Cyberjaya.

The anti-graft body had also arrested a deputy director-general with a “Datuk” title and six administrative and diplomatic officers (PTD) at the Prime Minister’s Department.
