Warisan: No witch hunt, in fact, we’re unhappy Musa got VIP treatment

Warisan says it has never pressured enforcement agencies even though there have been allegations against the former CM.

KOTA KINABALU:
Warisan, which is leading the ruling coalition in Sabah, has denied a claim that the party is on a witch hunt against Musa Aman, following the former chief minister’s return from London last week.

Its secretary-general Loretto Padua Jr, responding to a claim by Sabah Umno chief Hajiji Md Noor, also denied that the current state government under Shafie Apdal was acting like a bully and pressuring enforcement agencies.

“Who is Hajiji trying to fool?” Padua asked in a statement.

“Sabahans know very well that Musa went to London secretly and neither Musa nor any of his representatives had mentioned anything about his sickness at that material time,” he said.

Hajiji, who is the Sulaman assemblyman, recently accused state ministers from Warisan of interfering in the job of enforcement authorities.

“Shafie Apdal, Azis Jamman, Loretta Padua, VK Liew and other Warisan leaders should stop harassing enforcement agencies, telling them how to do their job.

“If Warisan thinks they are the rightful government, then stop acting like a bull in a china shop and start running the government,” said Hajiji.

But Padua said Shafie had never ordered for Musa’s arrest although the state government could easily use its powers based on accusations against the former Sabah Umno chief.

Padua said Umno was still in the old “autocratic” thinking, saying it was something “inherited from Musa.”

“I want to tell Hajiji that Warisan is very dissatisfied with how Musa was accorded special treatment by the state police chief Ramli Din and the Immigration Department upon his return to Malaysia. Nothing more and nothing less,” he added.

Musa left Malaysia a week after the May 9 general election, after several assemblymen switched sides to give Shafie the majority to form the state government.

He was reported to be in London to seek medical treatment following a heart bypass surgery.
